At first I doubted the claims about this doctor's weight-loss diet program. Then I reviewed the plan and did not see anything untowards. I must admit I wasn't overly impressed by the menu plans. Although they're varied - carbs and proteins, I just couldn't see what all the rave was about.
Fast forward to 8 months later and I'm a porker. My normal 167 lbs has ballooned to 191lbs. It crept up on me so sneakily, it wasn't until I tried to put on a suit that I realized just how much my waist had expanded. The trouser would not fit no matter how much I tried to "suck" my belly in.
I must tell you, I first tried another diet since it seemed a lot simpler. Well it went okay for the first 3 days and then I quit. Why? Well, I don't know about you, but after 3 days of eating the same soup for breakfast, dinner and lunch --- I was souped out. i didn't want to see soup again - for a while anyway.
I tried 2 other weightloss programs and though I had marginal success, it wasn't the results I was looking for.
Finally, I decided to try Dr. Siegrist's "Sun Slim" Diet.
It didn't go too well the first week. I missed some meals and quite frankly, it seemed like to much trouble to eat every 3-4 hours -- 5 times a day. Then, out of the blue, my signifcant other, Debra, decided she needed to lose weight.
See, Debra's always been a bit on the "heavy" side. Big girl, big bones and lately not very active. To be polite, she had become pleasantly plump. Of course, she'd tried to lose weight (several times) using different diets and weight-loss plans. But, you know how that goes and so she quit and stayed fat.
But something triggered her desire to lose weight just as I was about to chuck this program simply because I couldn't be bothered to eat at regular intervals, 5 times each day.
So, each supporting the other, we decided to give it another go.
Our goals: Debra: - 177 lbs - to lose 43 lbs - for ideal weight of: 134 lbs. Me: - 191 lbs - to lose 31 lbs - for ideal weight of: 160 lbs.
Okay, here's what happened.
End of Week 1: Debra loses 4 lbs 2 oz - She's not all that thrilled. Hoped to drop 7 - 10 lbs. Me: Lost 5 lbs 7 oz. I think it's okay. Not bad, but not so great either.
End of Week 2:
Debra: Loses 4 lbs 14 oz. That's exactly 9 lbs in 2 weeks. She feels a change for the better, but wishes she could drop 9 lbs a week. Anyway, she's encourage to keep going.
Me: Dropped 5 lbs exactly. That's 10 lbs 7 oz in 2 weeks. Weight now at 180 lbs 9 oz.
End of Week 3:
Debra: Loses 2 lbs 2 oz. She feels lousy, bloated and frustrated. But then she has her period. She always feels lousy, bloated and frustrated when it's that time of month. Perhaps that's why her weightloss has slowed down this week.
Me: Dropped another 5 lbs 5 oz. Weight now at 175 lbs 4 oz.
End of Week 4: Debra: Dropped 7 lbs 6 oz. Wow. She's happy. Weight now at 159 lbs 8 oz Me: Dropped 4 lbs 13 oz. Weight now at 170 lbs 7 oz
End of Week 5: Debra: Dropped 6 lbs 2 oz. Weight now at 153 lbs 6 oz Me: Dropped 4 lbs 11 oz - 165 lbs 13oz
End of Week 6: Debra: Dropped 5 lbs 3 oz to 148 lbs 3 oz Me: Dropped 4 lbs 7 oz to 161 lbs 6 oz.
End of Week 7: Debra: Gained 14 oz. She was dissapointed but was assured this is normal for some people when they first swithch to the 2nd Phase of the plan. Me: Dropped 3 lbs on Phase 2. Weight now at 158 lbs 6 oz. Okay that's it for me. I've reached my goal.
